Osvaldo looked at me from the corner of the display window in this kitchen shop out in Boston somewhere downtown, near my hotel.
I was in a hurry to get to a meeting with my bankers. I was expanding the company and needed more money to get it done right. My credit was impeccable, and I felt confident about it.
Osvaldo, I swear, yelled to me, “Good Luck”! I stopped, turned around, and said loudly, “ I will come for you later, Osvaldo.”
I bought this pan brand new to celebrate my newfound financing for the Cooking with Friends TV series I went on to produce. Osvaldo was masterfully hand-made by the team of artisans at the Ruffoni Factory in the piedmont region of Italy. This pan was nicknamed Osvaldo, and that is all that counted to me. Later I learned I had bought one of the best copper pans ever.
This basic design is similar to what my grandma Maria used to have. It is lined with tin, and it is hand hammered. It is perfect in every detail, and as of this writing, some of my best soups came out of this pan. I loved it so much I bought three more.
That Is what made my wife cringe. I seldom do things in singular numbers, but Osvaldo has been my favorite for quite some time. This is more than just a pan to me. Instead, it is a like a poet pen that has allowed me to paint some of my most memorable meals. This pan has a lot of me in it!
My wife says I sing or whistle every time I cook with it. I want someone else to have this pan and feel the joy one feels when cooking with copper. Unlike some of my other pans, this would make a perfect first-time purchase.
It is a solid top-of-the-line piece manufactured by one of the world’s most artistic manufacturers, Ruffoni. Walter and his team of artisans deserve a special place in the pantheon of this industry’s best. I know I still have many of his other pans, but too many of this singular one.
I hope you will find a spot in your kitchen to enjoy her magic, this pan has some years, but it is in excellent shape.
Osvaldo is 9 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches high. It comes with its own lid, this pan is decorated with a hand-hammered finish, and it looks spectacular!
My food always tastes better when I cook with copper; this pot has never let me down.
It would be a great pleasure to know it has found a home with another passionate family of cooks.
Please don’t buy this pan if you will not use it. She is not just a pretty thing. Osvaldo is one of the best Italian design samples and performs with remarkable precision. The tin lining is in perfect shape.
