1 1/2 pounds strawberries, sliced
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup dry Marsala or white wine
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint

In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients, making sure the strawberries are well coated with the sugar. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours to allow the flavors to meld. It's delicious plain, or spooned over pieces of pound cake with a dollop of whipped cream.
One small variation: In a small saucepan, mix 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch with 1 1/2 cups of orange juice and bring to a boil, stirring until thickened. Stir in the 1/4 cup of sugar until it dissolves, then remove from the heat and set aside. When at room temperature, fold in the strawberries and the wine. This gives you a thicker sauce and more complex flavors.
