Polpettone alla Nanci
1 pound ground lean beef
1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground lean veal
1⁄2 cup grated Romano cheese
1⁄2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 package onion soup mix
1 can tomato rice soup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
4 cloves garlic, chopped
13⁄4 cups bread crumbs
Dash of salt
Dash of pepper
1⁄2 cup ketchup
Mix all the ingredients together except the ketchup. Line a loaf pan with liberal amounts of ketchup.
Press the meat mixture into a loaf and top with abundant ketchup and score with a knife in a diamond pattern.
Bake in the oven for 1 hour at 350°.
Serve with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach.
For a unique side condiment, mix 6 tablespoons of ketchup with 6 tablespoons of grated Romano cheese.
